Above and Beyond: Creating new design work for print and web
“Beyond the Pour II” at the San Francisco Museum of Craft & Design
Patti Buttitta was selected to display art and design concepts in a show at the San Francisco Museum of Craft & Design, entitled “Beyond the Pour II: The Creative Process.” The show included many works by fine artists and designers in a variety of media, from sculpture to tapestry, drawing to musical compositions, and paper arts to ceramics. The show explored how the creative process evolves, ultimately resulting in the final artwork for wine label production. Patti Buttitta’s artwork included charcoal drawings, oil pastel and comprehensive mock-ups depicting conceptual options presented during wine label development.
Guest curated by Bob Nugent, Beyond the Pour II put the focus on the creative methods that artists use to bring their inspirations to fruition. The exhibit was augmented by wall inscriptions that gave context to the work. Since its inception in 2004, the San Francisco Museum of Craft & Design has developed and presented engaging exhibitions and educational programs that explore and define the roles of craft and design in a dynamically changing global culture.
The Beyond the Pour II show was generously sponsored by Imagery Estate Winery and in partnership with the Triton Museum of Art.
